Leadership Director

Position Description & Duties

The Leadership Director’s primary function is coordinating leadership and volunteers for the annual training at the Volunteer Leader Conference.  The Leadership Director is also responsible for identifying human resource-related training and development activities that help support the State Council members and local SHRM chapters.

State Director-Elect and State Director

Responsibilities:
  • As chair, the Leadership Director facilitates all coordination, planning, and direction of the Volunteer Leader Conference with assistance from the district directors, state director, and other assigned council members.  
  • In collaboration with the District Directors, identify areas of opportunity for current and future programming that support our volunteers
  • Promote SHRM membership among practicing members of the human resource profession.
  • Assists the State Council in disseminating information to Chapters, providing timely and accurate responses to questions. Makes recommendations as warranted. 
  • Work with chapter leaders to incorporate SHRM and WI SHRM goals into local chapter activities.
  • Report to the State Council at scheduled meetings regarding the activities of the Volunteer Leader Conference Committee.
  • Identify individuals who demonstrate leadership skills and potential for volunteer leadership roles on the State Council.
  • Provide direction, assistance, and support for professional and leadership development activities for WI SHRM and chapters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the State Director-Elect and State Director.

  • Ability to assist with recruiting potential WI SHRM State Council members.
  • Previous SHRM volunteer leader experience is preferred.

Requirements:
  • Experience leading or facilitating groups is helpful to the success of this role. 
  • Must be a SHRM member in good standing. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is highly desirable.
  • Regular attendance at State Council meetings is expected.
  • Attendance at the WI SHRM Volunteer Leadership Conference and annual Strategic Planning Meeting is expected.
  • Attendance at WI SHRM events is highly recommended.
  • Volunteering for three or more shifts is required if you attend the WI SHRM Annual Conference on behalf of the State Council.

Term:
  • Appointed by the State Director
  • Serves a one-year term beginning the first day of January and ending the last day of December. May be reappointed for two additional terms for a total of three years.

Biography

Dani Stuhr is the HR Assistant Director at Festival Foods supporting 41 stores across Wisconsin.  In her role with Festival Foods she primarily focuses on employee engagement, employee relations counseling, performance management, and assisting in leading a team of 41 HR professionals.  She is a performance-driven professional with eighteen years of progressive Human Resource Management experience.  She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources from the University of Wisconsin – Stout.

Dani is currently on the La Crosse SHRM board, serving as the Programming Director.  She is also on the WISHRM Council serving as the Northwest District Director.  She has also served as the College Relations Chair, Certification Director, President-Elect, President, and Past President for La Crosse SHRM.  She has been a National SHRM member since 2014.  She is also a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).

Dani and her husband Adam and their two dogs, Lexi and Zoey, live in Holmen, WI.  They are also foster parents who enjoy their time with the kiddos that come to stay with them.  In their free time they enjoy hiking, hunting, camping, reading, playing board and card games, spending time with their dogs, doing family activities with their foster kids, and spending time with their family and friends.
