2024 Workplace Policy Conference Recap
The 2024 Workplace Policy Conference held February 28th and 29th was a remarkable success! Thank you to everyone who attended and the presenters who shared their knowledge and expertise. This year the Workplace Policy Conference saw record attendance with over 200 registered attendees. As we move further into 2024, now more than ever, it will be important for HR professionals to succeed at addressing the most critical aspects of work which will help differentiate themselves as employers of choice.

Wednesday evening began with a networking event at the Top of the Park in the Park Hotel. It was nice to meet new people and talk with old friends in a casual setting before gearing up for the next day of learning. The view of the illuminated State Capitol was beautiful to see from the Top of the Park.

Thursday morning started out with Evan Rosen, Principal from Jackson Lewis in Atlanta. He held a highly interactive employment law simulation training that covered the “Life Cycle” of an employee from hire to fire. We divided into small groups and engaged in problem solving through realistic scenarios with regards to employment law and human resources. Evan is a great presenter who made the subject matter interactive and fun. His scenarios were what human resource professionals experience in its current state. Evan made this training fun, competitive within the groups and gave us content to troubleshoot with our peers. It was great to work through the scenarios in our groups, collaborate and then receive immediate feedback from an employment law attorney as to if our group managed the situation correctly.

After lunch and networking, Bob Gregg, Attorney with Boardman Clark gave us a legal and employment law update. Bob always brings humor to the employment law update and finds the unique case law. We were updated about recent legislation, court decisions, and words of caution about employment practices. As an HR professional, our role is to stay on top of all the upcoming rules, regulations, trends, and laws and it is nice to have an update at a high level of what we should keep our eyes and ears on and also the guidance with where to find more information if we need to dive deeper into certain issues that we are seeing in our respective workplace.

Our conference concluded with a dynamic presentation by Jim Morgan from MRA who touched on many subjects influencing the HR profession today such as the evolving landscape of workplace dynamics, the difficult issues surrounding remote work, workplace flexibility, DEI, the role of the hiring manager, generations in the workplace, artificial intelligence, and traditional business practices just to name a few.

A special thanks to the speakers, committee members and Morgan Data. This event would not have been possible without all of your help.

The committee will be meeting to go over the survey results - so thank you to those of you that took the time to complete it and we look forward to seeing you at the 2025 Workplace Policy Conference which is scheduled for February 26-27, 2025.
