Impact Your Community with WI SHRM Workforce Readiness Volunteer Opportunities
WI SHRM Workforce Readiness initiatives continue to grow, increasing our community impact and the visibility of WISRM around the state, by building partnerships between National SHRM initiatives and Wisconsin State initiatives.  Here is an overview of these partnerships.

Libraries Activating Workforce Development Skills (LAWDS)

In 2022, WI SHRM initiated a collaboration with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) for the Libraries Activating Workforce Development Skills (LAWDS) program.  WISHRM volunteers are supporting Wisconsin job seekers at their local libraries, who may not be able to travel to a Department of Workforce Development job center, or may not be able to visit a job center during its regular business hours.  For additional information, go to the LAWDS website.

Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG)  
Jobs for America's Graduates Wisconsin (JAG-WI) provides Opportunity Youth with the skills to enter the workforce, and successfully transition into adulthood.  It also connects them with local employers and technical colleges.  SHRM members can volunteer to be a guest speaker, conduct mock interviews, or hold workshops. Inspire the next generation by sharing your expertise, showing them the career trajectory, and providing tips.  For more information, go to JAG-WI

Human Resource Registered Apprenticeship Program (HR RAP)
The SHRM Foundation’s Human Resource Registered Apprenticeship Program (HR RAP) is partnering with the WI DWD Bureau of Apprenticeship to provide employers with a proven talent development solution for onboarding or upskilling HR Specialists. It also provides HR apprentices with a cost-effective and efficient point of entry into a well-developed career pathway in HR.  For more information, see the HR Registered Apprentice Program

The USAA/SHRM Veterans Ambassador Program
The SHRM Foundation and USAA are mobilizing HR volunteer leaders, known as Ambassadors, to serve as force multipliers in combatting the barriers to employment for transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses. WISHRM is providing SHRM Veterans at Work Certification materials and resources to corporate Military Veterans Employee Resource Groups (MV-ERGs) around the state. WI SHRM Workforce Readiness Director Bob Von Der Linn is excited about these programs, “These collaborations are win-win-win for everyone.  SHRM members connect with their communities, we have a positive impact on people in our communities, we help employers solve staffing challenges, and we increase the visibility and demonstrate the value of WISHRM around the state, which helps our chapters recruit new members.”
