Description: Summary:  It is the responsibility of the Manager of Compensation & Benefits to manage all aspects of the compensation and benefits programs for Wausau Supply Company to ensure regulatory compliance, internal equity and external competitiveness.
 
Duties to include (not limited to):
  • Administer, direct, and review employee benefit and compensation programs.
  • Design, evaluate and modify benefits policies to ensure that programs are current, competitive and in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Analyze compensation policies, government regulations and prevailing wage rates to develop competitive compensation plan.
  • Direct the preparation and distribution of written and verbal communications to inform employees of benefit and compensation policies.
  • Mediate between benefits providers and employees, such as by assisting in handling employees benefits related questions or taking suggestions.
  • Fulfill all reporting requirements of all relevant government rules and regulations, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), 5500 filings, IRS and DOL filings ACA reporting, etc.
  • Prepare and file EEO reporting.
  • Manages the relationships with vendors including benefit brokers and service administrators, relating to quality, service agreements, costs/billings, reporting, audit and controls.
  • Work with the Benefits Administrator to plan and conduct new employee orientations.
  • Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates.
  • Work with managers to ensure that detailed job descriptions and classification/grading exists for all jobs.
  • Manage the design and development of tools to assist employees in benefits selection, and to guide managers through compensation decisions.
  • Participate in external surveys to ensure competitiveness of benefits/compensation.
  • Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of employee personnel files/records.
  • Oversee the Company’s HRIS system.
 
A Manager of Compensation & Benefits will possess and/or demonstrate the ability of:
  • Solid business acumen with strong HR Expertise
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong and proven analytical skills
  • Excellent computer skills – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Establish network/resources to guide benefits/compensation decisions
  • Learn WSC operations/procedures to apply in problem solving situations
  • Teamwork oriented both internally/externally – cooperative – positive attitude
 
Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Human Resources or related degree
  • CEBS or CCP certifications preferred
  • 5-7 Years of benefits & compensation experience is required
  • Analytical & Technology skill set is necessary
  • Hands on experience with HRIS
  • Knowledge of job evaluation & job analysis systems
 
Working Demands / Physical Requirements:
  • Flexibility of hours to adapt to seasonal needs
  • Sitting and computer use
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected
