Description:

Position Overview: This position is responsible for the oversight, execution, communication and training regarding compensation and recognition programs, including base and variable compensation, salary planning, job descriptions, job evaluation, and other areas of total rewards. Serves as a compensation resource for all team members, team leaders, and senior leadership. The incumbent remains informed of developing trends/practices in compensation, performance management and recommends ongoing adjustments in related areas of expertise. Contributes to the HR planning process to establish annual and long term objectives in compensation and related functions.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates with department leadership in the design, administration, execution, communication and training of competitive compensation programs.
  • Completes job analysis and job evaluation on new and updated positions.
  • Participates in salary survey program with Farm Credit Foundations and completes other salary and budget surveys as appropriate.
  • Utilizes and maintains market pricing database tool to benchmark jobs annually, and to ensure competitive benchmark rates. Conducts market pricing by using the appropriate survey sources, scope criteria, and survey job matches.
  • Analyzes market competitive practices and trends in compensation programs and recommends appropriate adjustments (pay range adjustments, merit, etc.) for Board approval.
  • Analyzes current state of compensation within the organization, makes recommendations for changes regarding market or equity adjustments including grade, title and base pay adjustments for individuals or groups.
  • Facilitates, administers and guides leaders in salary administration programs. Reviews, revises and approves recommended changes in wages and salaries for conformance to merit, promotion and adjustment policies in collaboration with all team leaders.
  • Oversees and executes variable compensation programs including short and long-term incentive plans, commission plans and bonus plans.
  • Manages and maintains all variable compensation plan details with regards to measures and calculations. Maintains and updates accurate program documentation and manuals for all variable compensation processes and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the Finance reporting team on variable compensation accruals, updates to the annual plans, measures, calculations and results.
  • Manages and administers bonus programs including spot bonus, sign-on bonus, retention bonus, etc.
  • Manages and maintains the compensation module in the HRMS (PeopleFluent) for accurate and helpful information. Assists leaders with the usage of the system and facilitates information flow within the system and between systems.

Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, psychology or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 7+ years of human resources generalist or compensation work experience, including handling personal and confidential information.
  • Professional human resources certifications preferred (SPHR, PHR, CCP).
  • Variable Compensation/Incentive plan design and administration experience strongly preferred.
  • PeopleFluent system administration experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of FLSA and compensation-related state and federal laws.
  • Knowledge of general industry and compensation practices.
  • Strong client service focus, communication (verbal and written), presentation, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong skills in data analysis and the ability to make recommendations and decisions based on information.
  • Tact, diplomacy, and good judgment are necessary, even when working under pressure.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Quick learner who thrives in a collaborative team environment.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Report writing skills in an HRIS for compensation and analysis purposes.
  • Ability to gather and process large volumes of data used in the administration of various compensation programs.
  • Ability to maintain HR and compensation expertise through ongoing educational opportunities.
