January 2022 Message from the State Director
As I look back on 2021, I am so proud of the WI State Council SHRM, the 19 WI Chapters and all the volunteers who continue to support our members and communities!  We have accomplished so much this past year, despite the continued challenges of COVID19 and the increased demands of the world of work!  I want to start off by recognizing Dodge County SHRM who recently received the SHRM Pinnacle Award in the category of Advancing the HR Profession for their program entitled “A Deliberate Path Toward Diversity, Equity and Inclusion”.  Dodge County SHRM organized and hosted an in-person diversity, equity and inclusion conference bringing together 173 attendees who were able to immediately implement key takeaways based on their newfound knowledge.  The SHRM Pinnacle Award Program, an annual recognition program honoring the highest achievements in affiliate development, celebrates contributions in three categories:  Serving the Professional, Advancing the HR Profession and Enhancing the SHRM Community.  In 2021, SHRM added the Workplace Impact Award as an additional category which recognizes a chapter or state council that addresses an opportunity or challenge currently impacting the world of work.  Dodge County SHRM has now received a total of three Pinnacle Awards, we are so privileged to have them representing the State of WI at the national level!!

It was such a pleasure to welcome attendees in October to the 2021 WI State Conference “Cracking the HR Code.”  This hybrid event was very well received and Co-chairs Jennifer Zahari and Leah Rozeski along with the Conference committee worked very hard to make the conference a great success!

In December, members of the State Council and Chapter Presidents met to discuss strategic planning and more specifically, determine our 2022 areas of focus.  We agreed to focus on four specific areas, Chapter Support; Membership; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; and Workforce Readiness.  We will be sharing more details throughout 2022 and encourage your feedback as we progress.  If you are interested in working more closely in one or more of these areas, please contact me at statedirector@wishrm.org.

Our first event for 2022 is Day on the Hill, February 10, 2022 at the Premier Park Hotel in Madison.  We encourage you to attend this in-person event where you will be provided with a day of education, legal updates, advocacy and networking opportunities with your HR colleagues and legislators.

If you would like to get more involved with the state council or within your chapter, please let me know.  I can be reached by email at statedirector@wishrm.org or by phone at 920-203-9821.  WI SHRM has volunteer opportunities available and I invite you to check out the website at www.wishrm.org for more information.
