Description: Summary:  The Compensation Benefits Specialist plays a critical role in managing and enhancing the organization's employee benefits programs. This position is responsible for accurately processing and overseeing benefit enrollment in compliance with federal and state regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and FMLA. As the primary point of contact for WSC employees regarding benefits, claims, coverage, and eligibility, the specialist ensures clear communication and understanding throughout the organization. The role involves collaboration with brokers and vendors to maintain regulatory compliance, evaluate the effectiveness of benefit offerings, and support business operations through audits and benchmarking reviews. Furthermore, the specialist conducts new hire orientation on benefits and manages sensitive employee data with the utmost confidentiality. This position not only enhances employee satisfaction through competitive benefit plans but also aligns with organizational needs and regulatory standards.
 
Duties to include (not limited to):
  • Accurately process and manage benefit enrollment, adhering to federal and state regulations such as ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and FMLA
  • Oversee the organization's insured benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement plans
  • Act as the main point of contact for employees regarding benefits, claims, coverage, and eligibility
  • Coordinate the open enrollment process, ensuring comprehensive understanding of plan changes through communication, training, and material distribution
  • Collaborate with brokers and vendors to prepare and submit necessary reports for regulatory compliance
  • Maintain up-to-date benefits documentation in accordance with current offerings, regulations, and organizational needs
  • Assist employees in resolving benefits-related claims or discrepancies and ensure timely resolution with insurance providers
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of benefit plans regularly, using market insights to ensure competitive offerings and employee satisfaction
  • Support business operations by conducting benefits audits and benchmarking reviews
  • Collaborate on administrative tasks such as payroll coordination, compliance audits, and employee records management
  • Conduct Benefits Orientation for new hires, ensuring clear communication of benefit options
  • Provide backup support for payroll processing and related tasks when necessary
  • Handle sensitive employee data and benefits matters with utmost care, confidentiality, and respect.
A Compensation Benefits Specialist will possess and/or demonstrate:
  • Proficiency in UKG
  • Ability to report on-site within the greater Wausau area
  • Proficiency in CRM system(s)
  • Experience in Auditing
  • Knowledge of Benefit Functions
  • Experience in Claims Administration
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Ability to manage and create Benefit Packages
  • Experience in Benefits Administration
  • Ability to conduct Benefits Analysis
  • Experience in Benefits Payroll
  • Knowledge of Medical Benefits
 
Education / Experience:
  • Bachelors in Human Resources preferred
  • 3-5 Years of Human Resources experience beneficial
  • Analytical & Technology oriented
