Description: JOB SUMMARY
 
The Human Resources Generalist role represents an exciting addition to the St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) team, designed to bolster our HR services under the guidance of the Senior Director of Human Resources. We are seeking an ideal candidate whose passion aligns with our mission and who will take on key responsibilities including payroll management, performance evaluation, training and development, staffing, and overseeing employee benefits. The HR Generalist will provide invaluable support to our team across SVdP's seven thrift stores, Service and Administration Center, and distribution facility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES         
  • Process and oversee payroll to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal law while meeting deadlines for employees.
  • Administer employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits programs.
  • Manage all aspects of the employee benefits program, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment efforts for assigned positions, including job postings, resume screening, interviewing, and selection.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with universities, job boards, and community organizations to attract top talent.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and ensure a smooth onboarding process for new employees.
  • Administer and manage training programs for employees, including identifying training needs, coordinating training sessions, and tracking training completion.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS system.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and procedures that support SVdP goals and objectives.
  • Actively contribute to a more equitable and inclusive organization.
  • Build authentic relationships across lines of difference, such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, gender identity, citizenship status, or other identities.
  • Point of contact for workers’ compensation claims and employee verifications.
  • Model behavior consistent with the mission and purpose of SVdP.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS & KEYS TO SUCCESS
 
  • Previous work experience in HR with a focus on payroll, onboarding, and benefits administration.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employee benefits plans, programs, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience working with HRIS and other HR-related software.
  • Knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Suites.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races.
  • Strong ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and facilitate projects to their completion.
 
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • PHR certification.
  • Experience with training and administration.
  • Familiarity with Paylocity.
  • Spanish bilingual.
  • Work or volunteer experience in a customer service or call center environment.
SALARY & BENEFITS
  • Salary: $52,000-$65,000 commensurate with experience.
