Description: A Human Resources apprentice program is a great opportunity to develop the next generation of diverse HR professionals and/or add HR skills within the company to support an HR department. This is a proven talent development solution for upskilling HR specialists. With support from the U.S Department of Labor, the SHRM Foundation partnered with the WI DWD Bureau of Apprenticeship to provide a solution that offers a unique education opportunity through SHRM supported programs and on-the job learning. Apprentices also receive a nationally recognized credential upon completion.

Speakers:
Chuck Olsen is a Registered Apprenticeship Outreach Representative (AOR) for SE and SW Wisconsin emerging sectors. He works with state employers and committees to expand registered apprenticeship programs into new, non-traditional occupations such as IT, Heath Care, Logistics, Ag, ECE, Bio, Finance and Wisconsin's newest apprenticeship program - HR Specialist. He received his BA and MBA from UW-Madison has been with WI DWD for two years. Chuck is a 20-year Army Veteran, and also possess 20-years of experience in the private sector as a Manager/Director at Ford Motor Company and the Boucher Auto Group. He is immensely proud of all 15,900 current state apprentices and their mentors!
Milton Rogers is a highly respected expert in apprenticeship programs and workforce development, with an emphasis on returning citizens. With experience as a state regulator of apprenticeship programs at the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, he designed and implemented apprenticeship programs that were both effective and equitable, while building relationships with a broad group of stakeholders. As a policy and program analyst for the Department of Corrections, Milton facilitated the development and expansion of apprenticeship programs for incarcerated people, working to equip them with the skills and training necessary for successful reentry into society. Today, Milton is a consultant for national organizations including the SHRM foundation and Jobs for the Future, supporting their strategic workforce and reentry initiatives. With his extensive experience and commitment to improving outcomes for returning citizens and other diverse groups, Milton is a valuable asset to any organization dedicated to developing a skilled and productive workforce.
Janine Diana, SHRM-SCP, CCP is an HR Leader at the National Association of Tax Professionals and has an HR apprentice. She will share her experiences with the program.
