| Description: | The Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs (DMA) State Human Resources (SHR) office is currently looking for an entry level or seasoned HR Specialist to join our team of dedicated HR professionals. This position serves as a key contributor within the team and serves as a business partner to collaborate with DMA locations throughout the State. The ideal candidate has a sharp eye for details, demonstrates a desire to communicate clearly and develop strong partnerships with others, and is just as comfortable working collaboratively as they are independently. This position will be headquartered in either Fort McCoy or Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, at the discretion of the person hired. Regular travel would be required between the two locations. The initial training for the incumbent will be done at our Joint Force Headquarters building in Madison. Eligible travel expenses will be reimbursed. Working for Wisconsin State Government may make you eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program Position Summary: Under supervision of the Deputy Human Resources Director, this position performs professional personnel management work providing expertise and leadership in recruitment and staffing, position classification, compensation, employment relations, equal employment opportunity, and other personnel related programs. The incumbent is responsible for providing assistance to the Director of Human Resources in any and all aspects of the DMA personnel program administration including development and revision of SHR policy and procedures. If this position is filled at the Human Resources Specialist Senior level, the incumbent will be expected to perform the duties of this position with minimal training required. If filled at the Human Resources Specialist level, the incumbent will start in a developmental capacity, working closely with, and receiving on the job training from DMA Human Resources staff in key functional areas, as needed. The expectation is that the incumbent will eventually perform all duties of the position and be reclassified to the Senior level. Salary Information: The classification title for this position is Human Resources Specialist or Human Resources Specialist – Senior (pay schedule-range 81-04 and 81-03 respectively). Starting pay for the HR Specialist level will be between $31.83 and $34.58 per hour and starting pay for the HR Specialist Senior level will be $34.58 and $37.34 per hour, depending upon qualifications. State compensation includes an excellent benefits package. For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan. A 12-month probationary period is required. Level of position will be determined based on the qualifications of the selected candidate at the time of hire. Job Details: In order to gain access to the military facilities and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check. Must have the ability to travel to various work sites throughout the state. All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.
