WI SHRM HR Student Conference Scheduled for April 6th

The WI State Council SHRM Student Conference & Case Competition will take place on Saturday April 6, 2024, at Moraine Park Technical College in Beaver Dam.

In this “realistic job preview” competition, SHRM students will be able to coordinate teams and leverage knowledge acquired through their studies and apply it to a realistic HR situation likely to be encountered in the work world. This competition requires integrated HR thinking, ethical decision-making, and strong communications and presentation skills.

Prior to the actual event, SHRM students that would like to compete in the Case Competition will be provided with a business case study 2 weeks before the event. Each team will analyze the case study and come up with a solution, preparing both a written executive summary and PowerPoint slides to be included in a 15-minute presentation to be submitted prior to the event. Through a panel of judges, prizes will be awarded to the top team!

In addition to the Case Competition, SHRM students and professional volunteers will get to network, make connections and see presentations from some top tier speakers who will help our student participants make stronger connections around how to prepare and lead in the world of HR as a current student.

Why should I participate as a SHRM Student?
  • Make connections in SHRM amongst both student and professional members from across the state of Wisconsin.
  • Win cash prizes, accolades, and bragging rights for all of 2024!
  • Learn the process and content needed to write a successful business case.

Individual Eligibility for Case Competition Participation:
  • All competing team members must be current SHRM student members with active memberships at the time they register.
  • All competing team members must be active students at their college/university.
  • All team members must register as Case Competition attendees to be eligible to compete.

Team Eligibility for Case Competition Participation:

  • We are required to have at least 3 teams to run the competition. We can have up to 8 teams. A minimum of 2 students and a maximum of 6 students may participate on each team.
  • Any team that registers after capacity has been reached will automatically be placed on a waitlist. If a slot opens, the team captain will be notified. Waitlisted teams will be invited to compete in the order in which they registered.

Deadline for student chapters to register is Monday, March 11, 2024.
