WI SHRM Enterprising Leadership Award Winners Announced!
The WI SHRM Enterprising Leadership Grant, established in 2008, awards a chapter or chapters a grant to support a “partnership” with another WI-based organization that promotes communication and collaboration between HR and other business professionals/organizations across the state.  It is intended to fund initiatives that are innovative and strives to bring business professionals together toward a common cause, led by the HR community.

Criteria include having a partnership with an organization outside of SHRM that has goals/objectives that help advance the HR profession and a joint planned activity or initiative with that organization that demonstrates Enterprising HR Leadership Communication, Collaboration and/or Education of/between business professionals.

The WI State Council SHRM appreciates the work our Chapters are doing across the state to partner with local organizations with the ultimate goal of creating Better Workplaces Better World.  The committee based their decision on how well the initiatives aligned with SHRM’s Vision of embracing business solutions like building more-inclusive workplace cultures, closing the skills gap and continuing to work to aid companies in hiring people often overlooked in the job market.

I am pleased to announce the winners of the 2022 Enterprising Leadership Award are the La Crosse Chapter of SHRM (LASHRM), Metro Milwaukee SHRM and St. Croix Valley Employers Association.

The La Crosse Chapter of SHRM will receive $2,240 to support their partnership with The Mental Health Coalition of the Greater La Crosse Area.  On May 18, 2022, in partnership with The Mental Health Coalition of the Greater La Crosse Area, LASHRM hosted a virtual, half-day Employee Wellbeing Symposium.  This partnership allows The Mental Health Coalition of the Greater La Crosse Area to continue its mission of educating the La Crosse Area on mental health and allowed LASHRM to provide our members and area business leaders with resources on a critical HR topic.

The St. Croix Valley Employers Association (SCVEA) will receive $2,660 to support their partnership with Northwood Technical College on half-day summit for growing and nurturing HR professionals.  The main objective of the summit is to provide conversation about relevant HR topics, collaboration between students and employers and discussion on current needs and expectations from different generations in the workplace. Bringing together SHRM members and students provides for conversations leading to an increased understanding of the needs and expectations of the generations in the workplace that HR professionals must navigate.

The Metro Milwaukee SHRM will receive $1,100 to support their partnership with several organizations, some of which are Milwaukee Area Compensation & Benefits Association, the Association for Talent Development, International Foundation of Employee Benefits and local MBA programs.  The main objective is to study career trajectory of emerging professionals throughout the partnering organizations. Studies indicate a strong correlation between certification and compensation and promotions. This initiative will share that information with emerging HR professionals and highlight the various pathways to the
various certifications.

Congratulations to the La Crosse Chapter of SHRM, St. Croix Valley Employers Association and Metro Milwaukee SHRM on their awards!
