SHRM23 Recap
SHRM23 – They say what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas! I say absolutely not! What an amazing opportunity we had to represent Wisconsin and we want to share as much as possible with everyone!!
Sunday was a day for acclimation, registration and figuring out what was where. We attended our North Central Business Meeting in the morning, learning what was new and upcoming within SHRM. North Central Region also hosted a networking event in the evening, which was extremely popular and well attended 😊.
The Keynote on Monday was President Bill Clinton. As HR professionals, we all know we affect change, but it was nice hearing a former President stating this also.
Opening the General Session on Tuesday was Mitch Albom, who talked about HR and the human aspect and what we carry with us daily. Anyone that starts a presentation by playing the Beatles song “HELP” is ok by me. His message of life lessons and how to deal with them was very insightful and resonated with most.
There were so many amazing keynotes including Mitch, Starla Sampaco, President Clinton and of course our very own Johnny C Taylor. Not to mention the hundreds of sessions available that we had to choose from. As a SHRM Volunteer Leader, we were recognized with VIP seating at keynotes and at the Janet Jackson concert Tuesday night, as well as our own volunteer lounge where we could decompress and enjoy a massage, popcorn or ice cream sundaes.
If you have never attended a SHRM National Conference, I highly recommend SHRM24 which will be held in Chicago on June 23-26, 2024. We will show how Wisconsin shows up! If you are even considering attending, I encourage you to book your hotel now! Our WI State Council, we will be working to identify the attendees from WI so we can network together and represent the Badger State!!
