Description: Green Bay Packaging is currently seeking a Senior Manager for its corporate office to support the company’s labor relations, human resources, training, and recruiting efforts.
 
Green Bay Packaging Inc. is a privately owned, diversified packaging and paper manufacturer.  Founded in 1933, this Green Bay, WI based company has over 3,600 employees and 34 manufacturing locations located in 14 states. Reporting to the Sr. Vice President and General Counsel, this position will be responsible for facilitating the company’s relationships with its union and nonunion employees, supporting divisional human resources needs, developing and coordinating company-wide and divisional employee training programs, and leading corporate recruiting efforts.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Provide HR support and advice to divisional management and local HR teams;
  • Counsel corporate and divisional teams regarding full range of employee- and employment-related issues, including employee hiring, development, retention, discipline, and regulatory matters (e.g., FMLA, ADA);
  • Work with divisions to improve the effectiveness of human resource programs; develop tools to assist local HR teams in efficiently meeting compliance requirements and their desired HR objectives;
  • Support the company's labor relations programs, policies, and procedures, including assistance to divisional leadership and management teams regarding negotiation of collective bargaining agreements;
  • Support corporate and divisional efforts to maintain the company’s good labor-management relations, and assist all levels of management regarding labor and union matters;
  • Assist in the administration of labor grievance processes, and counsel divisional leadership regarding labor dispute issues;
  • Facilitate administration of company and divisional training programs, including procurement of training program presenters, facilities, and materials;
  • Consult with divisions in the identification of training and development needs and the development of training programs; conduct needs analyses to identify potential training opportunities for administrative, supervisory, and hourly employees;
  • Conduct training sessions in facilities as needed;
  • Lead corporate recruiting efforts and processes;
  • Develop applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, employment agencies, recruiters, and candidate and recruiting platforms;
  • Counsel corporate and divisional hiring managers as requested on candidate sourcing and recruiting needs; and
  • Other duties as directed by the Sr. VP/General Counsel.
 
 
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an applicable field;
  • Knowledge of HR, labor, employee training, and recruiting matters, including regulatory interaction
  • Experience within manufacturing and unionized environments;
  • Strong oral and written communication, problem solving, project-management and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders;
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and within a decentralized organizational structure;
  • Proficient with emerging technology and business software suites (e.g., O365, Outlook, web platforms); and
  • The ability to work well with others, exhibiting a positive, open management style is a requirement. Must relate well to all levels of employees within the company.
