About the Opportunity
The Human Resources Department is a team of two that oversees all HR functions.  Under the direction of the President, the Director of HR is a hands-on, strategic position that works in the following areas: strategy, employment, training and development, benefits oversight, talent management, recruitment, employee relations, wellness, special projects, etc.  This role will directly manage the HR Generalist and assist in developing standard work and continuous improvements in the HR department to support a lean environment.

  • Do you have a positive attitude and like to have fun at work?

  • Do you have drive and flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team?      
  • Do you have at least 5-7 years of Human Resources experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in HR? 
  • Do you have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or a related field?   
  • Do you have a HR certification?  SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR preferred.
  • Are you a change agent and always looking to improve HR, the company, and its culture?  Are you adaptable and willing to try new things to better PJ? 
  • Do you have strong customer service skills and enjoy interacting with employees at all levels?  This position oversees all employee relations matters, assists with the onboarding process, educates managers/leaders in areas of HR, etc. 
  • Do you have experience with talent management (i.e. succession planning, talent assessment, performance management/coaching, etc.)? 
  • Do you have experience with training, development and/or organizational design?  This position leads the employee development programs/processes, career ladders, training, and development, etc. to ensure employees are being fully utilized. 
  • Do you have experience with recruitment and employee retention?  This position partners with the HR Generalist and hiring managers in the recruitment and retention of top talent.
  • Do you have experience with self-funded health plans?  Do you have a strategic mindset when looking at the overall benefits packets?  PJ has been very successful being self-funded in health insurance, dental and worker’s compensation.
