Description: Job title    Human Resources Business Partner

Reports to    Corporate Employment Manager 

 

Job purpose:

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for aligning human resources and business objectives with employees and management in designated locations and business units. The person in this position cultivates strong partnerships to deliver value-added services that reflect the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP maintains and effective level of business literacy about the business unit’s products and/or services, business objectives, challenges, culture, and competition. 

 

Duties and responsibilities:

    Provides advanced level Human Resources services to employee and management in designated business units to help improve working relationships, build morale, and increase productivity & retention. 

    Maintains and reports data analytics to identify trends and suggest new programs and policies or to improve and enhance existing ones.  

    Provides policy interpretation and works in concert with the entire Human Resources team to ensure consistent application of policies. 

    Attends business unit meetings to stay informed of challenges and opportunities within the assigned business units.  

    Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, mitigating legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance both federally and in all states where assigned employees work and reside.

    Reviews all new and existing job descriptions to ensure legal compliance and an accurate representation of job duties.  Works with Corporate Total Rewards Manager to grade and classify positions.

    Provides performance management support to employees and managers including coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions.  

    Provides guidance to business units on restructuring, workforce planning, and succession planning.

    Processes unemployment claims, work to minimize overall expense, review cases, and represent the company at hearings.

    Conducts management training and continuously coaches business unit supervisors and managers. 

    Assists in the facilitation of a non-discrimination, anti-harassment environment and investigates any complaints. 

    Coordinates the exit interview process.

    Manages the performance review process from notification of those due, receiving them, reviewing them, addressing any issues, and ensuring pay increases are processed timely.

    Participates in new hire orientation to meet assigned business unit employees and introducing self as a resource for Human Resource issues. 

    Administers federal and state Family and Medical Leave ensuring compliance with the applicable regulations. 

    Actively participates in activities that address retention including but not limited to, planning recognition events, coordinating training, listening to team members concerns, etc. 

    Ensures follow-up on all employee matters to final conclusion.  This includes ongoing follow-up, tracking, documentation, and timeliness. 

    Completes regulatory reports as needed such as EEO-1.

    Serves as a back-up to other HR team members, particular those in an HRBP role. 

    Maintains confidentiality of employee and proprietary business information.

    Always presents a professional image of oneself and the company. 

 

Qualifications:

    Advanced knowledge of Human Resources practices normally acquired by the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Psychology, or similar field; or a combination of equivalent experience and/or education.

    Professional Human Resources certification highly desirable (SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, PHR, etc.)

    Two to five years of human resources generalist or employment experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting highly desirable.

    Ability to build collaborative relationships a must.

    Helps the organization continuously improve and transform by being a change agent.

    Excellent analytical skills, experience translating data points and insights.

    Strong decision-making and presentation skills to effectively execute job requirements.  

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

    Proven track record on making good judgements and having strong negotiating skills. 

    Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of federal, state, or locals laws,, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies. 

    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Previous experience with HRIS desirable (ADP preferred)

    Coaching and team building skills required.

 

Working conditions:

    Office atmosphere conditions

    Ability to travel to other business locations periodically

 

Physical requirements:

    Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and repetitive motion working at a computer. 

    Frequent walking, talking, and hearing. Occasional standing, reaching and bending.

    Frequently spends time in a production environment.
