Provide safety leadership, encourage and support leaders at all levels to exhibit visible and actionable commitment to an accident-free workplace.

Partner with your local team in a consultancy role to help leaders understand and administer policies and procedures necessary for business success.

Talent: Partner with local leaders to develop talent strategies to consider both immediate talent needs and long-term staffing requirements.

Review, approve and process grievances and related labor issues up to the step before arbitration.

Developing and/or implementing policies on issues like working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures and absence management.

Facilitate discussions between staff and union representatives on critical issues like pay, etc.

Research, interpret and advise leaders on employment law
-
Planning, and at times delivering, training - including inductions for new staff.

Analyzing training needs in conjunction with departmental managers.

This role does a require an on-site presence on a regular basis at the paper mill and also includes the ability to be ”on-call” every 4th weekend.

Skills For Your Success

Bachelor's degree in human resources, or a related field

Experience with labor relations, employee relations, or employment law

Excellent skills and attention to detail, able to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously while delivering on commitments

Outstanding communication skills in written and verbal form; extensive public speaking, training, and/or communication skills

Ability to quickly connect with people across a wide variety of backgrounds

Skilled in MS Excel, Word, SharePoint & PowerPoint; curious about new learning technologies
