Description: Jefferson County Human Resources department strives to provide high level public service by focusing on their objective to be a customer service focused team dedicated to being a resource to staff, managers, Board supervisors, and citizens of Jefferson County. The department handles recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, training and professional development, safety and health, employment law, employee and labor relations, and a variety of other tasks.
 
The Human Resources department is currently hiring a Human Resources Coordinator to provide generalist support activities in the human resources area, focusing on recruitment and selection tasks, time-keeping and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) compliance, and Countywide training coordinator.
 
As a knowledgeable, customer focused individual, you will be successful in this role by completing the below key tasks and responsibilities:
  • Administering overall timekeeping for Courthouse staff and providing training to department heads and staff; directing, problem solving, and coordinating payroll timekeeping with other County departments in accordance with County ordinances, FLSA, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Planning, coordinating, and directing the entire recruitment strategies, creating ads utilizing multimedia, and participating in the interview process as needed.
  • Managing Employee Performance Appraisal Program by tracking review dates and reminders, 360 evaluations, and assisting supervisors when needed.
  • Responsible for integrity of the pay and accrual system; ensuring pay rates, steps, cost of living increases etc. are accurate and provided timely. Coordinate wage, salary, and benefit accrual administration, assure proper records are retained that support and authorize implementation/changes
  • Interpreting and administering FLSA, employment laws, and County ordinances and polices
  • Variety of other tasks provided on the posted job description
Starting Wage: $20.60/hour
Hours: 40 hours/week; typically Monday – Friday with occasional night/weekend possibly needed

Qualifications Needed:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field plus one year of experience or internship; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • The successful candidate will be required to submit fingerprints as part of an FBI criminal background check and to complete Security Awareness Training
Qualifications Preferred:
  • Three years’ related experience
