Hello Students –
Welcome back!! We hope you had a great, fun and relaxing summer. As you are starting to settle in for the semester, now is also the time to start fresh with your SHRM Student Chapters. Begin recruiting early and work on continuing relationships with all those interested in SHRM throughout the semester and year. To help you with that, I’ve outlined several key dates, items and things to keep in mind. Please feel free to use me as a resource to make your chapters more successful. If I don’t have the answer for you, I’ll find it and get back to you.
Dates – Mark your calendars!
October 15th – 17th, 2014 WI State Conference, Monona Terrace, Madison, WI (see attached document for more information)
March 6th and 7th, 2015 WISHRM Student Conference and HR Games, UW-Whitewater
There are several requirements that need to be met to maintain your status as a legitimate student chapter. Those requirements are listed below:
Student Chapter Requirements
You may have as many members in your chapter as you like, but at least 8 have to hold active SHRM student membership throughout the year. Your chapter will be audited once per year.
The chapter must designate an advisor/co-advisor and they both must be current SHRM professional/associate members.
The chapter must designate a chapter president and he/she must be a current SHRM student member.
Every chapter must submit a Student Chapter Information form by June 1 every year.
Every chapter must submit a Student Chapter Roster Update Request Form by October 15 every year.
Every chapter must submit a Merit Award report by April 15 every year. (At a minimum Section 1 must be completed to remain a chapter in good standing.)
You’ll notice there was a date change for the SCIF requirement; it was changed to June 1st
. You can still submit your form but please do it ASAP. You can click SCIF online
If there are changes to your roster throughout the year, SHRM created a link to assist you. Roster Update - SHRM
. It’s very important to make sure rosters are updated.
