Program Overview:Many organizations are struggling to identify and develop future leaders. Traditional methods of managers selecting potential leaders are no longer effective. Given the flat, inclusive demands of today’s marketplace, designing leadership development with self-selection criteria rather than manager nomination criteria allows more people to opt in earlier, giving you bigger pools of talent to develop. This is what Millennials want: a chance to succeed on merit rather than tenure and title; and to put themselves into the pool.

Learning Objective 1:How processes for developing a leadership pipeline, and succession planning, need to adjust to the new matrixed environment of today’s business landscape.

Learning Objective 2:How to structure roles for Millennials in particular, where they collaborate with peers on projects and have the opportunity for direct influence and control over outcomes.
Learning Objective 3:The criteria for selection into leadership roles can be the same as in the past, but structuring the roles to allow for an employee’s self-selection gives the responsibility for success to the employee. It is no longer granted by title, but by merit.
