The Employer Group provides personalized and customized human resources and payroll services to clients across the U.S. We’re seeking a Human Resources Generalist to provide excellent service by being responsive to the needs of our clients, their employees, and our coworkers, and provide proper guidance and information related to HR best practices. This means the HR Generalist needs to understand the individual client’s business and its corresponding HR needs; maintain continuous open communication with clients and internal staff regarding clients’ needs and expectations; and to communicate progress on HR projects and activities to the client and internal staff as needed.

Our HR Generalist truly is a generalist: You’ll assist clients with talent acquisition, performance management, discipline, and terminations. You’ll conduct new employee onboarding and create and/or revise handbooks, written policies, job descriptions, and other customized written employment. Our HR Generalists get the opportunity to assist clients with compensation planning and management, employee relations, and benefits administration/roll-out. This position will also be responsible for coordinating our recruitment efforts on behalf of our clients.

To be considered, applicants must have the following minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or commensurate experience
  • 3 of applicable human resources experience
  • Professional HR certification or willingness and ability to obtain certification
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local human resource-related laws, regulations and rules
  • Excellent communication skills to include writing, speaking and the ability to adapt communication style to fit the situation and audience
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects through successful completion within set timelines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be customer-focused and quality-driven with strong customer service skills and focus
  • Ability to exhibit integrity in work product and in interactions with clients and other staff
  • Ability to hold one’s self accountable for actions, successes, and failures
  • Ability to be flexible in the work environment and willing and able to adapt to changing organizational needs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to operate in an open, honest and forthright manner to build and maintain relationships with a diverse population
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to effectively work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team
  • Ability to analyze data, draw appropriate conclusions and recommend solutions
  • Willingness to gain knowledge and listen to others
  • Flexibility in the work environment and willingness and ability to adapt to changing organizational needs
  • Demonstrated computer and software skills required; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and databases
  • Ability to travel within Wisconsin and other states as necessary
