Description: | The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is a hands-on role that provides full-cycle HR support by performing a wide variety of complex, sensitive, and confidential functions. This role carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits, employee relations, Human Resources Information System (HRIS), leave administration, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs various HR functions and procedures for all Company personnel; recommends new approaches and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.

Maintains HRIS records for HR-related transactions, e.g., position management, and oversees or assists with testing and/or implementation of new applications, functions, and processes.

Coordinates with Payroll to proactively ensure accurate and appropriate processing of various HR actions, e.g., mass wage changes, pay group transfers, and benefit status updates.

Serves as the primary contact for reports and data requests needed by HR and other departments; develops, organizes, analyzes, and summarizes information based on requests.

Oversight and administration of Company’s random drug testing program for DOT covered employees.

Talent acquisition support including pre-employment screens and new hire onboarding.

Performance management support including administration of union performance appraisals and union progressions.

Training and development support, e.g., LMS administration.

Provide back-up support to benefits administration, compensation analysis, and leave administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in HR management or business-related field or equivalent experience.

Experience working in the areas of benefits, talent acquisition, payroll, and compensation preferred.
Knowledge and Skills

Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Familiar with or the ability to learn HRIS and timekeeping systems.

Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, accurate, and timely.
