Description: | The Department of Natural Resources excels at protecting and managing Wisconsin’s natural resources while supporting the economy and the well-being of the citizenry. Within DNR, the Division of Forestry works in partnership to administer programs that protect and sustain our forested lands throughout the state, combining technical and financial assistance, planning, research, technology, education, and policy to help meet the many demands on the forest both today and for many years to come. To help achieve our mission, we are seeking candidates who are passionate about improving the workforce through analyzing, developing and improving recruitment strategies, hiring and assessment processes, onboarding, mentoring, performance assessment systems, employee retention, and knowledge transfer protocols. The Workforce Development Specialist is located at the Division of Forestry Headquarters in the Rhinelander Service Center. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week of December 17. The Workforce Development Specialist provides leadership for the Division of Forestry's initiatives for building and developing a knowledgeable, engaged and skilled workforce. The position is responsible for program analysis, planning and evaluation related to attracting, developing, integrating, and retaining technically-proficient personnel, setting the direction for the Division through leadership, innovation, best practices, and transfer of knowledge. The Workforce Development Specialist is a key internal and external consultant for staff, leadership, inter-divisional teams, and partner groups.
