Description: The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of human resources activities including full-cycle recruitment activities, employee relations and administration of worker’s compensation program. This position is a skilled professional-level position with responsibility for providing technical expertise in designated areas of Human Resources.

Leave Administration Duties
• Serves as the leave administrator. Provides expertise on all aspects of leave administration and applicable organization leave policies. Ensures compliance with federal and state law.
• Manages requests for FMLA leave, Company Discretionary Leaves of Absence (non-FMLA qualifying) and casual non-assignment leaves. Receives and responds to inquiries regarding leaves and leave policy and procedures.
• Processes requests for leave within required timeframes. Completes and mails eligibility and designation paperwork. Monitors and tracks to ensure for receipt of follow-up paperwork including health certifications, fitness for duty forms, etc.
• Tracks leave entitlements by employees for both federal and state FMLA. Periodically updates employees on remaining leave entitlements. Ensures for the proper documentation and maintenance of leave paperwork.
• Communicates with managers and appropriate parties regarding duty restrictions; light duty /modified duty arrangements; accommodations; return from leave; failure to return timely from leave; etc.
• Coordinates FMLA leave with Workers Compensation leave.

Recruitment and Retention Responsibilities
• Responsible for full-cycle recruitment activities. Responsible for internal and external recruitment processes and activities including handling applicant inquiries; sourcing jobs; screening of applications /resumes; conducting phone and on-site interviews; assessing candidates and; referring candidates for hire. Monitors the recruitment process for assigned open positions and makes appropriate adjustments to the recruitment process to ensure that vacant positions are filled in a timely manner with qualified candidates.
• Interacts with hiring managers to establish and/or clarify job duties, responsibilities or requirements. Works closely with managers and supervisors in determining personnel needs and filling vacancies. Meets on a regular basis with managers in assigned areas to review staffing and other needs. Provides regular recruitment status updates. Assists in the development of recruitment plans, etc.
• Recommends the selection of applicants and employees. Makes offers of employment and prepares offer letters and new hire letters. Provides necessary new hire paperwork. Explains benefits eligibility and enrollment and answers questions regarding employment. Prepares new hire documentation for payroll.
• Schedules post-offer /pre-employment physical evaluations.
• Assists in developing employee retention strategies as part of the team. Serves as a member of the turnover action team.

Employee Relations Responsibilities
• Serves as a resource to managers and supervisors by handling questions; interpreting and administering Employee Handbook policies and procedures and; helping to facilitate and resolve work-related matters.
• Assists supervisors on performance management issues. Advises on employee coaching and counseling. Reviews all draft disciplinary write-ups for areas to ensure for consistency and appropriate progressive discipline. Sits in and helps facilitate performance improvement planning activities. Prepares draft disciplinary and termination letters for approval.
• Assists in providing new hire orientation and other training sessions. Additional Responsibilities
• Assists as directed in workplace investigations.
• Updates and/or develops personnel policies for review as assigned. Researches and prepares written recommendations, reports and analysis on a variety of personnel matters.
• Assists with other core areas of Human Resources as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a closely related field with a minimum three years progressively responsible post degree human resources experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Requirements: This position requires travel to company office locations to conduct new hire on-boarding, on-site interviews, employee exit interviews, etc. Must maintain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license. Must maintain an acceptable driver’s record per company policy. Must maintain proof of current auto insurance. Must have access to a vehicle in good working condition.
