Description: | Purpose The Benefits Data Analyst/Underwriter performs a variety of professional, technical and analytical duties in support of the employee benefits programs for our organization. Incumbent will assist the Benefits Manager to plan, analyze, and design MCW’s employee benefits programs in line with our benefits strategy and participants needs. Data analysis of benefit plan claims, utilization and trends along with regulatory compliance is the primary focus of this role. Primary Functions 1. Analyzes participation and utilization for all benefits on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Analyzes benefits experience for cost-control and risk-assessment factors. Uses data to monitor trends and recommend initiatives, benefit plan changes, vendor changes, and cost sharing. 2. Analyzes in-network provider utilization to identify gaps in provider network, appropriate discount arrangements and inappropriate utilization for use during the contract negotiation process with network providers and facilities. 3. Analyze historical claims data to provide cost or savings projections of plan design changes. Coordinate with MCW’s Insurance Broker the calculation of renewal rates for self-insured health and welfare plans based on analysis of claim experience, industry and demographics. 4. Review, maintain and recommend changes to all MCW benefits policies ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. 5. Performs statistical, cost and financial analysis of data extracted from various sources. Prepares reports based on findings, including health care costs, healthcare trends, provider contracts, plan design changes and regulatory changes. 6. Serve as a project manager to facilitate plan changes, compliance requirements, and annual total compensation statements. Prepare an annual Compliance Calendar and manage to completion. Perform plan and/or benefits system testing. 7. Tracks year over year annual benefit plan expenses, compares overall benefits program cost to benchmark data 8. Other duties as assigned.
