Job Summary

The Compensation Analyst administers and coordinates compensation programs ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and regulations. This position conducts job evaluations, model salary increases, participate in salary surveys, and wage/salary programs. This role provides guidance to managers on compensation philosophy and assist in designing and implementing program changes. This role may be filled at the senior level.

Characterstics and Responsibilities

Job and Survey Evaluation (70%)

  • Conduct, participate in, and analyze salary survey data and other competitor information sources to determine trends in similar industries and geographic areas.
  • Assist departments with analyzing positions for updating current or developing new job profiles assuring consistency with company standards and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Review, analyze and determine position classifications (exempt, non-exempt from overtime) based on Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), engage with Legal team as necessary
  • Evaluate and determine which jobs map to Service Contract Act (SCA) job profiles and determine SCA wage
  • Assist managers with questions or needed explanations of job evaluation results (classification, wage, duties, etc.)
  • Assist with responses to outside inquiries for information on compensation programs from attorneys, government agencies, salary survey companies, etc.
  • Create clear communications to business area managers and Human Resources Partners related to job classifications, wage determinations and SCA findings
  • Participate in and provide necessary information to comply with various audit (internal/external) requirements
  • Provide detailed ad-hoc compensation research, studies and reports
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

Program Administration (30%)

  • Responsible for the administration of salary administration programs
  • Responsible for validating SCA rates for jobs in all locations (office sites and remote workers)
  • Compile, analyze and interpret wage information/data and provide recommendations for compensation programs which ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Recommend changes in the compensation programs that may improve efficiencies and cost
  • Maintain job profile library (active, archive, versions) and develop and implement improvements to process

Qualifications

Work Experience

Required

  • 2 or more years of experience in Human Resources

Preferred

  • 1 or more years of experience working with compensation programs including job evaluations and salary surveys

Education

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

Preferred

  • Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation
