Description: The Morgridge Institute for Research seeks a Director of Human Resources to partner with organizational leaders to align HR strategy, programs and support with the organization’s mission to improve human health by conducting and translating innovative, interdisciplinary biomedical research in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, by leveraging our collective strengths in research and education. The Director of HR will provide leadership and employee development through the delivery of Human Resource programs, activities, and services. We are looking for a collaborative Director of Human Resources to manage all areas of Human Resources including recruitment and onboarding, compensation, benefits, payroll, performance management, rewards and recognition, learning and development, compliance, employee relations, and organizational development for over 120 diverse employees including but not limited to scientists, researchers, engineers, post-doctoral associates, IT and finance professionals, outreach and education specialists, and students. The Director of Human Resources will report to the Chief Operating/Financial Officer and will work with the Institute’s management team to foster a collaborative culture.
 
Candidate Requirements:
Successful candidates will articulate and foster the view of Human Resources as a consultant, partner, and advisor to managers in meeting their human resources needs and reinforce a service orientation through engaging with all levels of employees in a proactive and professional manner. Significant experience with recruiting, benefits, compensation, employment, employee relations and training is required, experience working in a non-profit scientific research environment is strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and S/PHR or SHRM-S/CP certification is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  Candidates should also possess: knowledge of human resources and government reporting requirements including related federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, knowledge of visa processing is preferred; proven success in managing change, supporting organizational excellence and collaboration; ability to influence at all levels of the organization and drive initiatives from start to completion; ability to maintain high level of confidentiality; and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and payroll software.
